Incident: House Fire
On Monday March 02, 2014 at approximately 04:52hrs the Joint Fire Communications Centre received a 9-1-1 call regarding a house fire at 6071 King Street, in the Caledon East Fire District. While en route, responding crews were updated that a caller reported flames visible through the roof and was unsure if anybody was home.
Upon arrival, Caledon Firefighters found a one-storey residential type structure with a heavily involved working fire in the attic. Occupants were unaccounted for and firefighters commenced an offensive fire attack for search and rescue operations and initiated a rural water shuttle operation.
As fire conditions on the interior deteriorated, crews were forced to withdraw from the structure and initiate a defensive fire attack. Crews utilized several large handlines to control the fire. Caledon Fire and Emergency Service personnel worked tirelessly through the early morning hours in adverse weather conditions to bring the fire under control at approximately 08:38hrs. Extensive overhaul operations followed.
Cause: Under Investigation by Caledon Fire and Emergency Services.
Damage: Major Loss – $ 400,000
