(CALEDON, ON) – On January 21, 2014 shortly before 2 am, a concerned citizen contacted the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report a possible impaired driver in the northbound lanes of Highway 10. The citizen managed to stop the motor vehicle and observed as the driver of the black Pontiac Sunfire got out of his vehicle, and began walking southbound on Highway 10. Officers from the Caledon Detachment arrived in the area and located the male approximately 150 metres from the suspect vehicle.
Upon speaking with the male driver, the officer detected a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, he was unsteady on his feet and his eyes were glossy. As a result, the male was arrested and transported to the Detachment for testing.
As a result, a 29 year old male from Brampton was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on February 13, 2014.
