Cross Country Canada (www.cccski.com) recently announced that Caledon’s own Brittany Webster has been nominated to the team that will represent Canada at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
“Caledon is where my heart and home is,” states Brittany Webster on her web site
(http://www.brittanywebster.net/), and she is certainly making her hometown very proud as she heads to the Olympic Games for the second time in her career. Some of Brittany’s results include a 6th and 9th place at World Junior Championships, a 5th and 8th place at U23 World Championships, member of the 2010 Canadian Olympic Team and 2013 Senior World Championship Team, four time Canadian Nationals Gold Medalist, World Cup competitor and medalist of several North American Cups.
“Town of Caledon Council and staff are honoured to recognize this world-class athlete,” said Acting Mayor Nick deBoer. “Brittany’s achievements are outstanding and show a high level of commitment to her sport. Caledon is proud to support Brittany and her team mates on this exciting journey.”
Town Council and Staff signed the Town flag and presented it to Brittany’s parents, Fred and Christine Webster, at a celebration at Town Hall on Tuesday, January 28.
Members of the public are encouraged to drop by and sign notes of encouragement to Brittany as she sets out to represent Canada at the 2014 Olympic Games. The Town flag will be available for signing by Caledon residents and other supporters on Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29 in the Town Hall Atrium at 6311 Old Church Road in Caledon East.
