(CALEDON, ON) – On Monday, July 15, 2013 shortly after 7 pm, a citizen contacted the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report an impaired driver in the Village of Bolton. Officers received updated information from the citizen and located the vehicle in the area of Castlederg Side Road and Duffy’s Lane. The officers activated their emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the motor vehicle at which time the driver accelerated to evade police. Officers patrolled the area and discovered that the driver had lost control, entered the ditch and fled the area on foot. Extra patrols including OPP K-9 and Emergency attended the area and located the male in the area of Regional Road 50 and Old Church Road.
As a result of the investigation, Ilgam KHAKINOV, 43, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Over 80 milligrams of Alcohol and Flight from Police.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused will make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on August 23, 2013.
